Game NotesSudbury managed to retain the majority of the team after their success last week, and this gave them confidence over a team well above them in the league, and on double their points.
Sudbury were on the attack right from the start and pushed the older IES team back into their half right from the first pushback. Passing the ball well and holding their shape they caused problems for the opposition again and again, but failed to capitalise on their dominance.
When IES broke through they caused problems for the Sudbury midfield, as their experience told, but they too failed to find the net, even wasting several short corner opportunities.
The Sudbury defence dealt efficiently with their attempts on goal – in particular an on-form Captain Harrington in goal, and Jess Kendell, whose perceptive and reliable play once again earned her the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
Sudbury went down to 10-men for a short period at the start of the second half, when Florrie Barber had to take time off the pitch for a strange card offence – but even this failed to give IES any advantage, and the game finished in deadlock as neither team could finish.
An excellent result for the young Sudbury side, when you consider IES 1’s play at the same level as Sudbury’s Ladies 1’s, and they have withdrawn their 3rd team from the league this season!

Next week an upbeat Sudbury 3’s meet Ipswich 4’s again at Tuddenham Road.
